The NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) contributed to the setup and organization of the international cyber defence exercise APEX 2024 (Allied Power Exercise), held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 10-12 September 2024.
The exercise was conducted using a cyber warfare scenario based on a hypothetical interstate conflict in the Indo-Pacific region and involved 21 nations from NATO and the Indo-Pacific region as the defense team (Blue Team).
The NATO CCDCOE provided support to the exercise with its expertise in conducting large-scale cyber exercises. Experts from the NATO CCDCOE contributed to developing the scenario, StratEx, and exercise systems, including the Power Grid system, Web services, and the DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response) component.
The exercise was hosted by the National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea, in cooperation with the National Security Research Institute, Ministry of National Defense (Cyber Operations Command), Ministry of Science and ICT, Financial Security Institute, Institute for National Security Strategy and NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.
The Republic of Korea has been a contributing participant in the NATO CCDCOE since 2022.
